Thelma F. Young is the author of The Stories My Foremothers Told Me, a book of memoirs based on tape-recorded conversations with women in her family who grew up in New Orleans and Biloxi before the Civil Rights Movement. For her second book, Ms. Young is tape-recording conversations with children who survived Hurricane Katrina. She is also editor-in-chief of Fiction Fix, a literary journal of short stories which publishes first-time authors from across the nation.
