The Page Edwards Short Fiction Contest
Page Edwards was a novelist and a writer of short stories. He lived in St. Augustine and worked with the historical board. He was known for being very helpful with area writers and spoke to the Writers’ Festival and the North Florida Writers.
Entrant Guidelines and Checklist
- This contest calls for unpublished, original short stories, not exceeding 6,000 words.
- Each entry requires a $15 entry fee.
- Make checks payable to First Coast Writers’ Festival, indicating “Short Fiction Contest” in the For line of the check.
- Mail entries to Writers’ Festival Contests, 4501 Capper Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218, ATTN Dr. Dana Thomas.
- Each entry should be typed, double-spaced, with numbered pages.
- Entries should include a heading on the first page of the story in the upper left corner indicating name, address, phone number and e-mail address. For purposes of blind judging, the remaining pages should not include any portion of the author’s name.
- Entries should not exceed 6,000 words.
- Entries should not be the author’s only or original copy as the Festival does not return eliminated entries or accept responsibility for entries lost in the mail.
- Include a biosheet, written in third person, listing entrant’s name, address, phone number and e-mail address, along with the title of the manuscript(s) and the first few words of the entry. Follow this information with a brief (two to three sentences) biographical statement.
- Current Florida Community College employees and Writers’ Festival Planning Committee members are not eligible for entry into the Writers’ Festival contests.
- Winning short stories from past Writers’ Festival contests may not be resubmitted.
