Teach First Coast is a comprehensive
alternative certification training program for new teachers. The
program is designed to prepare you to sit for the Florida Professional
Education Test. Those wanting to teach math and science are highly encouraged to apply. The public school systems have expressed a strong need for teachers in these areas in both middle and high school.
Our public schools need hundreds of new teachers!
Teach First Coast was created to train new teachers in order to help meet the critical teacher shortage in Florida. Now, you can gain the professional qualifications you need for an exciting new career. Here are some details:
- Participants must have
a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university*
- Least
expensive alternative certification program in Northeast Florida
- Tuition support available for candidates with financial need and those seeking to teach in the critical shortage areas of math and science
- Technology
- Instructional Strategies
- The Teaching and Learning Process
- Classroom Management

- Foundations of Research-based Practices in Reading
- The Teaching Profession
- Diversity in the Classroom

Classes meet 1-2 nights a week and some Saturdays
|
Classes meet 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for seven consecutive weeks
|
Other schedules for this coursework will become available as needed.
When you finish this program, you will be ready to sit for the Professional Education Test and apply for your Professional (permanent) Teaching Certificate.
