Survive and Thrive: Helping Students to Help Each Other
Wednesday, March 13 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Woodside room at Wilson Center, South Campus

A two hour workshop providing insights about creating and managing diverse learning groups in your classes. Join us for discussions about designing, managing and assessing cooperative learning groups in order to assist students to optimum achievement! Share experiences with learning groups and brainstorm strategies for helping students to help each other. Open to all faculty. A Taste of Academic Controversy Wednesday, March 26 1-4:30 p.m. MCCS Boardroom A hands-on four hour workshop presenting and exploring Academic Controversy as a vehicle for fostering critical thinking skills in your classes. Academic Controversy, designed by Roger and David Johnson of the Center for Cooperative Learning, uses the elements of cooperation to stimulate debate and consensus making concerning complex issues, whether traditional or contemporary, found in all subject areas. Open to all faculty. Participants will take part in an academic controversy during this workshop.

Each day’s breakfast and lunch, as well as the textbook, are provided

Prerequisite: Foundations of Cooperative Learning
Session runs consecutively with Foundations Seminar
