Catalog
You may use the online
catalog to complete
this section if it is available and you choose to do so. Links
are
provided where appropriate.
Your catalog is a storehouse of valuable information. You can
navigate the catalog in two primary ways. The first page of
the
catalog is the contents
page. Go to this page now and read through it to get an idea
of the kinds of information available. There is also an index
on the last few pages of the printed catalog.
It provides a more detailed list of topics covered.
For the purposes of this orientation, we will
be using links to the online
catalog. Follow the links provided
below.

College
Calendar
The College calendar contains
many important dates, including the first and last day of classes,
deadlines, holidays, and more. It is organized by terms or semesters;
each academic year has three primary terms (also known as semesters):
Fall (beginning in August), Spring (beginning in January), and
Summer (beginning in May).
It's important to know the difference between drop and withdrawal
deadlines. The drop deadline is the last day you can drop a
class
and receive a full refund. If you drop a class, it will not show
up on your transcript or count as an attempt. Withdrawal, on
the
other hand, results in a “W” showing up on your transcript.
A withdrawal is not counted against your grade point average,
but it does count as an attempt. You will only be allowed three
attempts for any given course taken at Florida Community College
and must pay increased
tuition for the third attempt.
Referring to the
College calendar, review the drop and withdrawal dates for
the term you plan to enter Florida Community College. You will
use these dates to answer
the related questions on your orientation Worksheet.
NOTE: The
College offers a variety of “sessions” within a term,
with different beginning and ending dates than the regular
semester.
If you enroll for a session other than the typical 16 week semester,
the drop and withdrawal dates will be different than those
listed
in the catalog. You must refer to your fee receipt or your schedule
(in Artemis)
to find the correct dates.
The catalog also summarizes the graduation requirements for the
various programs offered at Florida Community College. The requirements
listed in the
catalog you receive when you first enter a Florida Community
College program are effective for five years. If it takes
you longer than this to complete
your program of study, you will be “rolled over” into
a different catalog year that may contain different program
requirements.
NOTE: There
are often graduation factors that may not
be printed in the catalog. It is very important that you seek
advisement early in your course of study.
