College-wide Updates

Update 3-13-01
A.S./A.A.S. Advisor List Being Updated.  All of the links to the program advisor list have been temporarily inactivated. This list is being updated and verified and will be re-established once this process is complete. In the meantime, contact the counseling and advising office for program advisor information.

Update 12-4-00
Degree Audit Available Online. The degree audit summarizes progress towards your degree. It also allows you to do “degree shopping” — to see how your credits apply toward other degree programs. To access this tool online, visit www.facts.org (academic advising and transcripts). Use your social security number as your ID and your two-digit birth month and birth year  as your PIN (e.g., Feb., 1960 = 0260). NOTE: Degree audits do not cover all the requirements related to transfer. Be sure that you meet with a counselor or advisor to discuss other requirements related to university prerequisites, foreign language, CLAST, and so forth.

Update 10-19-00
New A.A.S. and A.S. Degree Changes. A.S. degree programs now offer transferability of general education courses to the university. Five A.S. degree programs offer complete program transferability to certain university Bachelor degree programs: Business Administration and Management, Electronics Engineering Technology, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Radiography, and Nursing. The A.A.S. degree programs offer a non-transfer option with lower mathematics requirements. If you want further information, contact your A.S. program advisor.

Update 9-12-00
Nursing Program Requires College Algebra. Because of changes at the State level, Florida Community College’s A.S. degree Nursing program now requires MAC 1105 (or higher) math. Also, the program is newly designated as a “career ladder” degree program, allowing transfer to the university without additional coursework at the community college level.

Update 9-6-00
A.S. Computer-Related Program Information. If you want some further information about the computer degree (A.S.) programs offered at Florida Community College, go to programs of study.

Update 1-26-00

However, if a student has a Bachelor’s in Sociology with a minor in Social Welfare from UNF, he/she is considered in Advanced Standing and it reduces the time to degree to 6 semesters. It is a 3 and 1/2 year cycle. New cycle begins May 2000; Advance Standing Cycle, Fall 2001.

Students with 3.0 GPA in their last 60 hrs and any score on the GRE are admitted. With a GPA lower than 3.0, students must attain a minimum GRE of 1000. The contact people for the program are Cecily Hardin or Leslie Allen, 904.359.6350 or 904.359.6162.

Update 1-24-00
UNF Education majors have flexibility in meeting cultural diversity requirement. The College of Education has notified us that the six credits of cultural diversity will automatically be met (without additional coursework) for majors in Special Education, English Education, and Social Science Education. Other Education majors may use HUM 2211, 2236,2251, 2410, 2450, 2472, and 2511, and a variety of other courses. Link here for a list of the UNF-approved courses.

Update 1-10-00
UNF Education majors no longer need ACT/SAT scores. The University of North Florida no longer requires these tests for admission to the College of Education.  However, the minimum all college cumulative GPA requirement of 2.5 is still required, as is the requirement of passing scores on all parts of the CLAST. Education majors are not allowed to exempt any part of the CLAST. Students seeking an exception to these requirements should contact an advisor in the UNF College of Education at least 4 months in advance of the time they wish to enroll.

Update 10-1-99
