Career Exploration

Deciding on a career can be difficult, but one the first steps in making a career choice is performing a self-assessment. Use the following on-line resources to locate occupations and majors, etc., that are in line with your interests.

After you have engaged in the process of self-assessment and have a few occupations to explore, you’re ready to evaluate those options by finding out more about them. Print out and use the career reseach worksheet to get started. You might want to print a separate worksheet for each occupation you research. (This worksheet requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader to print it. If you don’t have it, you can download it for free at the Adobe Web site). The Occupational Outlook Handbook and O*NET are two Web sites with information on hundreds of careers. Use the links below to answer the questions on the worksheet.

Once you have generated career options in line with your interests and have thoroughly researched those options, you’re ready to make a decision about which occupation you will target. To help you make an informed decision, there are several factors that should be considered. The following resources will be of assistance to you:
