Computer Requirements for Online Programs

All online courses require the following:

  • Computer with personal access to the Internet (e.g., computer with a modem or cable modem connection)
  • A Florida Community College at Jacksonville (FCCJ) student e-mail account
  • Web-browser software (at least Internet Explorer 4.5 or Netscape Navigator 4.7 - download Internet Explorer)
  • Windows 95 operating system or higher
  • Virus-checking software
  • Some courses may require additional software. For details about specific course requirements, refer to the information found in your schedule in Artemis or visit your instructor’s Web page.

Florida Community College offers all enrolled students a FREE e-mail account and dial-up access. If you have a computer with a modem, you can use the College’s dial-up service to connect to the Internet free of charge. You must have an Florida Community College student e-mail account BEFORE you can use the student dial-up services. For information about how to activate your student account and dial-up service, see the student computing resources Web page.

You must have Internet access through an ISP (such as AOL or College dial-up) before you can access your online course. When you’ve completed this step, then you’re ready to start your course!
