Short Term Goals

1. Improve access to library information services for students, faculty and the community through the improvement of the interactivity and positioning of the FCCJ Library Web page and links.

2. Enlarge access and capacity for library information services through virtual reference services, online chat reference, email referral assistance and collaboration with College Center for Library Automation (CCLA).

3. Preserve services and increase current budget funding levels to provide collegewide support for non-duplicative online databases, specialized book collections to support new program development and the new general education requirements, media, periodicals and historical microform subscriptions.

4. Participate in the development and implementation of “learning management systems?which will include components of learning objects, content management interface, assessment and virtual reference assistance and tutoring.

5. Continue to improve communication and cooperation among the campus libraries for resource acquisition, budget decision making, and technology interfaces.

Long Term and Ongoing Goals

1. Modernize the physical plant of the campus libraries and strive to reposition them strategically near the core of student activity, i.e. ground floor locations.

2. Preserve services and increase the collegewide budget contribution to support new library virtual services and technological interfaces.

3. Research and promote access and capacity to library information and virtual library services.
