College-wide Initiatives
Florida Community College utilizes a continuous, dynamic strategic planning process to identify, prioritize and respond to the most significant needs and opportunities before the College at any point in time. We believe that the velocity of change in our service area, and beyond, requires ongoing situation analysis and significant capacity to respond with effectiveness and agility. This activity is informed and guided by our five superordinate college-wide goals which are derived from our institutional mission and purposes. An initiative-based advancement model is employed to pursue these goals through very focused resource management, outcome specificity and accountability standards. This semi-annual report provides a brief summary of each initiative and its current status within the overall context of our institutional effectiveness model.
The first section of the report summarizes our college-wide goals and then articulates these goals as a statement of institutional vision. The next section of the report provides an additional perspective on the College’s priority initiatives for 2007-08. While our college-wide goals provide a long-term framework for organizational improvement, we must also ensure that the more immediate needs of our community and opportunities to improve academic services for students are addressed. Accordingly, the “Priorities for 2007-08” section summarizes our analysis of the most important things to which we must attend through major initiatives which will be immediately responsive to each requirement and opportunity.
The final sections of the report present a complete summary of all of the initiatives of the College over the past five years. A description and summary of current status is provided for each initiative. This section is divided into three subsections: active initiatives, completed initiatives and discontinued initiatives.
