Florida Community College offers drama “Unspoken for Time” Oct. 25-28
FCCJ DramaWorks presents “Unspoken for Time” by Jeff Barker for one weekend, Oct. 25-28, at the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts Studio Theatre on South Campus.
“Unspoken for Time” handles the themes of sexual abuse, faith, friendship and family through the story of a first-year college student, home for the Christmas holidays. The play follows her journey into the depths of dealing with the abuse and taking steps toward recovery. “Unspoken for Time” was originally developed and produced with theatre students at Northwestern College in Iowa as part of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Playwriting Awards program in 1994. The play received a Meritorious Achievement Award from the Kennedy Center in 1995. The playwright, Jeff Barker, is a professor of Theatre at Northwestern College.
The FCCJ DramaWorks production of “Unspoken for Time” features 16 student cast members from all areas of Jacksonville and is directed by Professor Ken McCulough. Set and lighting designs are by FCCJ’s Director of Technical Theatre Johnny Pettegrew. This production is an associate entry in the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival.
Performances are as follow: Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.; Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 for FCCJ students and staff; $8 for non-FCCJ students, military and seniors; $10 general admission.
