Florida Community College offers T’ai Chi and Yoga for fitness and health
Florida Community College’s Continuing Education department is offering a variety of T’ai Chi and Yoga classes this fall. Multiple start dates are offered throughout the term.
“Better Balance through Tai Chi,” a four-hour course, will be offered Sept. 18 and 20 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with another section meeting Oct. 13 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This unique course will introduce students to the core physical and mental components that make T’ai Chi so good for balance and stability. With seniors in mind, expert and international champion Joel Timmons has developed and offered this course through local health care systems. Students can expect to develop good habits and strength. Classes meet at FCCJ South Campus, 11901 Beach Blvd. Tuition for each class is $25.
“T’ai Chi,” taught in a more traditional format that includes all 20 movements of this meditative art, is offered on Fridays, Sept. 14-Nov. 9 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Kent Campus, 3939 Roosevelt Blvd. Tuition for this class is $65.
“Yoga: Good for Your Health” is designed for beginners. This ancient practice for stress reduction will be held Wednesdays, Sept. 12-Oct. 17 from 6-7 p.m. at Kent Campus, 3939 Roosevelt Blvd. Tuition for this course is $55.
