Winbush elected chair of Florida Community College District Board of Trustees
The Florida Community College District Board of Trustees unanimously elected members N. Wyman Winbush
II, David F. Miller Jr. and Thomas R. McGehee Jr. to serve as officers at the first meeting of 2006-2007, held on
August 1.
Elected to chair the Board is N. Wyman Winbush II. He has served on the Board of Trustees since 1999,
most recently as vice-chair for Duval County. Winbush is a sales manager for IBM and serves as Captain in the Naval
Reserves at NAS Jacksonville. He received a B.S. degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and his M.B.A. degree from
Jacksonville University. In addition to his experience on the Colleges Board of Trustees, Winbush previously served
six years as a member of the Florida Community College Foundation. He is a graduate of Leadership Jacksonville and has
served in numerous community volunteer roles including that of a featured facilitator for Volunteer Jacksonvilles
Blueprint for Leadership program.
David F. Miller Jr. will serve another term as vice-chair for Nassau County. He was appointed to the
Board of Trustees by Governor Bush in 2003. Miller is a partner in the DF Miller Development Company and former owner and
CEO of Pure Ice of the South. Following his graduation from Duke University in 1976, he became a partner in the public
accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand. His professional and civic affiliations include service as member and past
president of the Florida Community College Foundation Board of Governors, member of the board of directors of the
International Packaged Ice Association, the Southern Ice Exchange Association and the North Florida Council of Boy Scouts.
He is also a former member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and was a Rotary Club member in
Florida and Tennessee.
Thomas R. “Mac” McGehee Jr. was elected to serve as vice-chair for Duval County. McGehee
was appointed to the Board by Governor Bush in 1999. He is executive vice president of Mac Papers, Inc., a family-owned
paper distribution company. He received his B.A. degree in business management from the University of Florida. McGehee
presently serves as secretary of the St. Vincents Hospital Foundation Board. He has previously held posts as
director of the Printing Association of Florida; chair of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee
and president of the Navy League of Jacksonville.
The Boards six other trustees are Emily B. Smith (immediate past chair), M. F. Mass, M.D.,
Rhonda M. Medows, M.D. and Michael B. Weinstein serving Duval County; and Linda H. Asay and Suanne Z. Thamm serving Nassau
County.
