“Summer Bridge” program at Florida Community College helps incoming students make transition to college

Florida Community College is offering a program to help recent high school graduates make the transition to college. The Summer Bridge program provides comprehensive support in academics and life skills, increasing student confidence and student success. Classes begin Monday, June 5.

Summer Bridge involves enrollment in two courses: “Strategies for Success in College,” (SLS 1103) and one college preparatory course. Additionally, the student’s experience is enhanced with personal attention from a designated faculty member or peer mentor; interaction with the student’s campus-based Student Services and Financial Aid; daily tutorial sessions in the campus Learning Resource Center; and a weekly “lunch and learn” session with program and discipline faculty.

Any graduating high-school senior or first-year degree-seeking student who has applied to Florida Community College is eligible for enrollment. Tuition for the two credit-courses is under $500, plus books and a one-time lifetime membership fee of $15 for new students. Summer Bridge is offered at Kent, North, South and Downtown campuses. For more information call 904.646.2300.
