Details: With the Lewis Bean Nassau Technical Career Center, the
Nassau County Public School District and Florida Community College have collaborated to answer Nassau Countys need
for career and technical training. High-school and post-secondary students, as well as incumbent and displaced workers
will have access to the Center and its programs. This innovative 45,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility maximizes
use of state funds and sharing of resources. The Technical Career Center will offer school-district programs during the
day and career and technical training for adult residents in the evenings and on weekends. Based on the expressed needs of
employers and labor market forecasts, the College will initially offer programs in information technology, health sciences,
hospitality management, and building construction technology. The school district will offer and articulate its technical
programs in health services, building maintenance, business systems technology, computer-aided drafting and design and
office business systems technology.
The Center bears the name of the late Lewis Bean (affectionately known as “Red,”)
long-time Nassau County educator and supporter of adult, career and technical education. The late Bean was the father of
Representative Aaron Bean (R, Dist. 12).
