Florida Community College training for Aircraft Sheet-Metal Technicians
Three-week training course for entry-level positions starts November 27

The Aviation Center of Excellence at Florida Community College at Jacksonville is offering a short-term training course for entry-level aircraft sheet metal workers. The local demand is such that successful completers of the course are guaranteed an employment interview with two aviation companies.

The Assembly Riveter course takes three weeks to complete. Classes begin Nov. 27, meeting Monday through Thursday nights from 6-10 p.m.; Friday nights from 6-9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The cost is $800 and scholarships are available for qualified students. Successful students earn a certificate of completion.

No previous experience is necessary to take the course, but to qualify for the interviews, there are academic requirements. Scholarship applicants for this course must be at least 18 years of age, U.S. citizens and males are required to be registered with the Selective Service. Aircraft sheet metal technicians are in high demand locally, with entry-level hourly earnings at about $12 or higher.

The Aviation Center of Excellence is located at Cecil Commerce Center. For more information call 904.997.2845.
