Ophthalmic Technician Open House on August 10

Florida Community College partners with UF to prepare students for careers in ophthalmic physician offices

Florida Community College hosts this open house on Wednesday, August 10 at 7 p.m. Participants will learn about degree programs for careers in ophthalmic physician offices. It will be held at the University of Florida Department of Ophthalmology, 580 W. Eighth Street (across the street from Shands Jacksonville) in Tower II, 10th floor, in the Coleman Room.

Ophthalmic technicians assist ophthalmic physicians (medical doctors who diagnose, manage and treat diseases of the eye) by performing certain tests and services for their patients. In partnership with the University of Florida, Florida Community College is offering programs that result in an Ophthalmic Technician associate in science or applied associate in science degree. The open house will provide information to get interested students started on this career path. For reservations please call 904.766.6594 or e-mail staylor@fccj.edu.
