Kent Campus Legal Studies cosponsors Law Day seminar, luncheon May 6
The Jacksonville Bar Association, the
Northeast Florida Paralegal Association and Florida Community
College’s Legal Studies
Institute will sponsor a Law Day seminar and luncheon on May
6 from 8 a.m.–4 p.m. at the College’s Kent Campus.
The seminar is being offered for $99, which
includes admission, materials, lunch, refreshments and door
prizes. There is also a one-time $15 lifetime membership fee
for new students. Note: certain
CLE credits apply, including one hour of Ethics.
“Law Week events are most often directed
toward attorneys. We want to celebrate the contributions of
all the legal professionals, including attorneys, paralegals,
legal assistants and secretaries, accountants, administrators,
managers and all other support staff positions,” said Elaine
Puri, Legal Studies program director at Florida Community College.
Workshops focusing on professionalism
and ethics are geared toward any in the legal profession.
A panel discussion will cover communication with clients
and associates; workshops will provide information on protection
from identity theft, career maintenance strategies, human
resource tips on meeting an employer’s expectations
and how to balance work and family.
Florida Community College offers an associate in science and an associate in applied science degree in Legal Assisting. The programs are appropriate for those who want to work as paraprofessionals in the legal or criminal justice fields. This Legal Assisting program is the only such program in North Florida approved by the American Bar Association.
A Legal Secretary program is also offered at Kent Campus. This certificate program prepares students who want to work in the highly specialized legal field.
Kent Campus is located at 3939 Roosevelt Blvd. To register for the seminar or for more information, call 904.381.3589.
