Florida Community College at Jacksonville is
offering P2R2 workshops during June, July and August to small businesses.
The six-hour workshops will teach how to prevent, prepare for,
respond to and recover from emergencies, such as the tropical storms
that battered Florida in 2004.
“In the span of six short weeks from
August 10 to September 25, five tropical systems affected Florida,
with damages in billions of dollars,” says Workforce Education
Coordinator Susie Pontiff at the College’s Kent Campus.
The workshops are designed for small business owners, business
and office managers, and anyone responsible for making decisions,
developing a plan, or communicating a plan in the event of an
emergency; weather, fire or crime. Participants in these workshops
will be provided the ability to complete an emergency preparedness
plan that will help protect their businesses. They will also
receive information for personal preparedness in emergencies.
The cost of the workshop is $99. Chamber members
and non-profit organizations may attend at the discounted rate
of $79. There are three options to attend the six-hour workshop
at Florida Community College: June 1, from 8 a.m.–3 p.m.
at Kent Campus, Room D120; a two-part session July 20 and 21,
from 6–9 p.m. at South Campus, Room G101; and August 13
from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. at Kent Campus, Room D120.
