Florida Community College CIO Rennie honored as Premier 100 IT leader
IDG’s Computerworld recognizes 100 in fifth annual awards program

Florida Community College at Jacksonvilles Vice President of Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO), Dr. Rob Rennie, has been selected as an honoree of IDG Computerworld’s Premier 100 Information Technology (IT) Leaders for 2004. Honorees, including Rennie, were named and profiled in the January 5 issue of Computerworld and will be honored again at Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference, occurring March 5-7, at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort, Palm Desert, CA.

Rennie was selected from nearly 600 nominees. Each was measured against Computerworld’s IT Leadership Index, a set of characteristics that describes executives who guide the effective use of IT in their organizations; and then evaluated by the editors and an external panel of past Premier 100 honorees. Other honorees include leading IT executives from corporations such as Cisco Systems, J.P. Morgan Chase, Marriott International, American Express, Lockheed Martin, MetLife and the U.S. Air Force.

“IT leaders are responsible for a wide variety of initiatives that are vital to successfully doing business - ranging from customer service to security assurance to cost-effective supply chains,” said Maryfran Johnson, Editor-in-Chief of Computerworld. “Our Premier 100 IT Leaders represent an elite class of technology thought-leaders who truly practice what they preach about using IT to creatively solve business problems and enable new services.”

“We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Rennie—and his expertise—at Florida Community College. Recent recognitions of our college’s accomplishments and capabilities in technology are directly attributable to his exceptional vision and leadership,” said Florida Community College President Steven R. Wallace.

Rennie has been with the College since 1997. In addition to being Florida Community College’s CIO, Rennie has served a faculty appointment as a visiting scholar in Information Systems at the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA and as CIO for Mt. San Antonio College in Los Angeles and Brevard County Schools on Florida’s Space Coast.

The complete list of Premier 100 IT Leaders can be found in the January 5, 2004 issue of Computerworld and online at www.computerworld.com. The issue includes several feature articles summarizing the challenges IT Leaders expect to face in the coming year, including motivating staff, avoiding project pitfalls, shoring up network security and preparing for the rebound.
