The FCCJ Betty P. Cook Nassau Center Will Host College Goal Sunday

The Florida Community College Betty P. Cook Nassau Center will host College Goal Sunday, February 22, between noon and 4 p.m. at the Betty P. Cook Nassau Center, 76346 William Burgess Boulevard, in Yulee. Individuals should arrive before 3 p.m. College Goal Sunday educates students and parents on the various financial resources that are available to help pay for college. College bound high school seniors and their parents are invited to get free assistance with federal financial aid forms (FAFSA). Professional financial aid staff and counselors will be on hand to offer help in all aspects of the financial aid application process. Scholarship information for Northeast Florida colleges will also be available. There will be drawings for tuition scholarships from Florida Community College, University of North Florida, Jacksonville University, and Edward Waters College. You must be a graduating senior to be eligible for the scholarship drawings.

Students and parents are encouraged to attend even if they are not ready to complete the FAFSA at this time. In order to complete the FAFSA, parents and students should bring the following:

  1. Social Security number, driver’s license or alien registration card (if non-US citizen)
  2. 2008 IRS 1040 or latest tax return and W-2 statements
  3. Untaxed yearly income statement for 2008, such as Social Security benefits, temporary assistance to needy students, welfare and non-educational veterans benefits if appropriate.
The event is being held statewide. The local site is a collaboration between Florida Community College, the University of North Florida, Jacksonville University, Edward Waters College, Nova Southeastern University and the Nassau and Duval County School Districts.

Light refreshments and door prizes will be available. You do not have to be present to win.
