Nassau County Take Stock in Children Receives 2009 Achievement for Excellence Mentoring Award

Take Stock in Children of Nassau County (TSIC) received the Achievement for Excellence Mentoring Award at the 2009 TSIC, Inc. State Conference, June 2 in Orlando, Florida. Take Stock in Children, a mentoring and scholarship program, has 167 Nassau County high school students enrolled. Students are matched with mentors and will earn tuition scholarships to college or vocational school upon graduating from high school. Jody Mackle, TSIC Program Director, said “This award really belongs to the 167 mentors who meet each week with their Take Stock students, giving them the encouragement and guidance they need to be successful. We all feel very fortunate to work with such wonderful, caring volunteers.”  Take Stock/Nassau is affiliated with Florida Community College at Jacksonville and the FCCJ Foundation, Inc.
