Grand opening for Florida Community College Aerospace Resource Center March 3 at Cecil Center

Details: The renovated Aerospace Resource Center houses Florida Community College’s Air Traffic Control training program, complete with ADACEL-equipped Air Traffic Control Simulation Labs (supplier to the Federal Aviation Authority), a Flight Simulation Lab with eight simulators and an Avionics Lab. The Center provides training, certification and support for the expansion or Florida’s aviation and space industries. The FAA anticipates a need for 17,000 air traffic controllers by 2018 to replace retiring workers. In 2007 FCCJ became an FAA-approved Air Traffic Control training site through FAA Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI), a program established to allow colleges and universities to conduct basic air traffic control training. Media Notes: This event is separate from the College’s announcing of its new name, which occurs at Cecil Center North at 2 p.m. The grand opening will allow attendees to tour the facility and experience the air traffic control and flight simulators.
