Florida Community College’s nursing graduates among tops in pass rate on national licensure exam

Ninety percent pass rate on licensing exam higher than national and state level

The 2007 Associate in Science degree Nursing (R.N.) graduates of Florida Community College at Jacksonville are in the top ranks of nursing graduates in the nation. Of the 305 FCCJ graduates who took the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses, 276 passed the exam, a 90.49 percent pass rate. The national pass rate was 85.7 percent, while the Florida pass rate was 83.22 percent.

“I am extremely proud of the dedication of our Director of Nursing Alice Nied; our faculty; and the hard work of our students, as demonstrated by the number of graduates who performed so admirably on this difficult test,” said FCCJ North Campus President, Dr. Barbara Darby. North Campus is the home of FCCJ’s Nursing program and other programs in healthcare.

The NCLEX (R.N.) was developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing to establish and measure a national standard of competencies needed to perform safely and effectively as an entry-level registered nurse. State boards of nursing use the exam results as a means of making licensure decisions. The NCLEX pass rate of an institution is a measure of success as the number of graduates taking the exam increases and reinforces the quality of associate degree nursing programs.
