Florida Community College VP for Workforce Development Simpson appointed to worldwide leadership board for colleges and universities
Jim Simpson, associate vice president for workforce development and curriculum services at the Florida Community College at Jacksonville, has been selected to serve a three-year term on the Chair Academy’s International Practitioner’s Advisory Board.
The Chair Academy provides leadership training to post-secondary leaders throughout the world through its Leadership Academy Programs. Simpson completed the Chair Academy’s foundation program in 1998 and advanced leadership program in 2006.
“The academy’s leadership training was a great experience for me, and since completing it, I have been privileged to mentor other participants of the Chair Academy training as they learn to utilize their new skills,” said Simpson. “I am honored to be invited to join such a prestigious board and look forward to serving on the board.”
As a member of the Practitioner's Board, Simpson will collaborate with selected peers from colleges worldwide who have also completed the academy’s leadership program. Together they will provide ideas about best management and leadership practices, identify issues and trends that affect the academy, and provide overall advice regarding the programs and services offered to post-secondary leaders.
“Jim is a great asset to FCCJ and has incredible leadership abilities, so it comes as no surprise that the Chair Academy would ask him to serve on their worldwide leadership board,” said Don Green, executive vice president for instruction and student services. “Jim will be an excellent addition to the board and will represent FCCJ well.”
As associate vice president of workforce development and curriculum services, Simpson oversees the FCCJ’s workforce training planning efforts, curricula development, and instructional delivery. He has over 25 years of industry and academic leadership experience. Simpson earned both his bachelor’s degree and his masters in business administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.
