Why was the program created and how does it work?

Each year, eligible contributions received by a community college’s foundation or the State Board of Education are submitted for state matching funds.

How are matching funds calculated?

The matching ratio for eligible contributions that support scholarships ... shall be $1 of state funds to $1 of local or private funds — (100%).

The matching ratio for eligible contributions that support programs ... shall be $2 of state funds to every $3 of local or private funds — (66%).

Who authorizes the Benjamin Matching Program?

The program is reauthorized annually by the Florida Legislature.

What is the funding source?

Funds are drawn from non-recurring revenues.
