Teaching Tip

Anonymous Comment Cards

Using 3 x 5 index cards, students are allowed to make comments, recommendations or ask questions pertaining to each class meeting. The cards are placed at the front of the class by the instructor. As students enter the class, they each pick up a card. At the end of the class meeting, students are encouraged to comment about the class and to leave the card with the instructor. Cards can be submitted with names or anonymously. At the beginning of the next class meeting anything that needs to be addressed as a class is addressed. Sometimes students request contact from the instructor during the week. These cards allow the quiet or timid student the opportunity to ask questions or speak out.
