Duties of Commission Chairs

  • Coordinate commission activities at the Chapter level.
  • Distribute correspondence and information bulletins on Chapter, Regional and Statewide commission activities.
  • Act as the liaison between the Chapter and the commission at the state level.
  • Solicit nominations for exemplary practices awards.
  • Serve as voting delegate to the annual convention.

Commissions and Chairs 2007

Administration Dr. Patty Adeeb, South Campus/Deerwood Center
Represents the interest of community, and junior college administrative and business affairs and provides for participation related to professional development, welfare and morale.
Adult and Continuing Education Cathy Schwartz, Open Campus
Involves all interested community college personnel in the development, promotion, facilitation of concepts and programs relating to the Adult and Continuing Education Commission.
Career and Professional Employees Monica Johnson, Downtown Campus
Promotes professional growth and exchange among career employees in Florida's public community colleges.
Curriculum Steven Wood, Deerwood Center
Represents the interests of the faculties, administrators and other concerned personal Florida community and junior colleges and provides for their participation relating to curriculum and instruction.
Equity Elaine Tisdale, MCCS
Provides leadership, advice and counsel on EA-EO/Equity matters, recommends equity legislative issues to FACC and provides a vehicle for professional development.
Faculty Heidi Marshall, South Campus
Promotes quality leadership and professional service by articulating the interests and concerns of the faculties of Florida's community and junior colleges and provides for participation in seeking solutions to matters relating to faculty development, welfare and morale.
Global Initiatives Chalah Harris, Open Campus
Develops and coordinates programs related to international and multi-cultural matters.
Institutional Advancement Kevin Cotton, MCCS
Promotes professional growth and development among commission members, through conferences, seminars, interchanges, idea sharing and other cooperative efforts.
Institutional Effectiveness Toni Southerland, MCCS
Promotes institutional effectiveness planning and research at Florida's public community colleges and encourages professional development of FACC members with a functional interest of involvement in these areas.
Learning Resources
Catherine Hodges, North Campus/Nassau Center
Represents the interests of community and junior college learning resources personnel and provides and promotes effective participation with respect to all aspects of learning resources.
Occupational and Workforce Education Dr. Jim Simpson, MCCS
Represents the interests of those involved in occupational education at community and junior colleges and provides participation in all areas relating to occupational education programs and practices.
Retirees Richard Snipes, North Campus
Represents the interests of community and junior college retirees and provides for effective participation in all areas related to professional development, welfare and morale.
Student Development Kerry Roth, North Campus
Involves student affairs personnel in community and junior colleges to promote communication, provide a vehicle for professional development, and provide leadership in offering recommendations appropriate to the resolution of issues and concerns related to student affairs.
Technology Dr. Julie Giuliani, Open Campus
Promotes the procurement, development, and implementation of state-of-the-art technology applicable to teaching, learning, and administration in community and junior colleges, and offers appropriate recommendations to member institutions.
Trustees Pending
Serves in a liaison capacity with the State Board of Community Colleges, educates trustees in regard to their duties and responsibilities, keeps trustees informed about matters of concern to all community colleges, and gives trustees a forum for the discussion of common issues.
