Certificate Programs

This special voluntary certificate program is open to all administrative and professional staff at Florida Community College but has been particularly designed to meet the needs of Campus Presidents and Academic Officers at the level of Vice-President, Associate Vice-President, Executive Dean, Dean, Associate Dean and Instructional Program Manager. You must complete an application to be enrolled in this program. It requires a commitment of approximately 46 hours for completion of the training. The College will provide a certificate to academic administrators who complete the program.
The following courses are required for the Deans’ Professional Development Program, and you should register in the appropriate section of this catalog:
- Communicating and Working with Faculty, Part 1 - 2 hours (face-to-face)
- Communicating and Working with Faculty, Part 2 - 3 hours (face-to-face)
- Conflict Resolution, Part 1 - 2 hours (face-to-face)
- Conflict Resolution, Part 2 - 2 hours (face-to-face)
- Working with Diverse Students - 2 hours (face-to-face)
- MIS Reports and Orion to Support Teaching - 2 hours (face-to-face).
- Learning Through Interactivity - 15 hours (online)
- Blackboard - 12 hours (online or face-to-face)
- Capstone — Creative Course Design and Teaching: 6 hours (online, face-to-face, special announcement registration). Persons enrolled in the Certificate program must have completed or received a waiver for all other certificate courses prior to completing the Capstone Course in order to receive credit for it.

The Hybrid/Blended Certificate Program is a voluntary certificate program and is open only to full-time and adjunct faculty. You must complete an application to be enrolled in this program. This program’s focus is on facilitating faculty skills in developing and teaching hybrid/blended courses. The training is both face-to-face and online. The program requires a commitment of approximately 34 hours of training.
The following courses are required for the Hybrid/Blended Certificate
Program, and you should register in the appropriate section of this
catalog:
- Orientation to Hybrid/Blended Course Delivery: 2 hours (face-to-face)
- Developing Interactive Hybrid/Blended Courses: 12 hours (online)
- Blackboard: 12 hours (online) — For additional information, go to faculty computer offerings
- Developing and Applying Tools for Hybrid/Blended Course Delivery: 2 hours (face-to-face)
- Capstone — Creative Course Design and Teaching: 6 hours (online, face-to-face, special announcement registration). Persons enrolled in the Certificate program must have completed or received a waiver for all other certificate courses prior to completing the Capstone Course in order to receive credit for it. The courses should be taken in sequence listed.
The Classroom Professor Certificate Program is a voluntary certificate program and is open only to full-time and adjunct faculty. You must complete an application to be enrolled in this program. This program’s focus is on facilitating faculty skills in developing and teaching face-to-face and blended courses. The training is both face-to-face and online. The program requires a commitment of approximately 39 hours of training. In addition, full-time faculty must complete 18 hours of mentoring activities. Mentoring activities are coordinated following completion of the required courses.

- Classroom Management Series: 9 hours (face-to-face)
- Part 1: Community College Demographics: Who are our students?
- Part 2: Classroom Management — Case studies, due process/grievance procedures, handling emergencies, and course syllabi.
- Part 3: Cooperative Learning Awareness
- Part 4: Motivational Theory and Practice
- Part 5: Student Success and Student Persistence
- Part 6: Classroom Assessment Techniques
- Developing Interactive Blended Courses: 12 hours (online)

- Capstone — Creative Course Design and Teaching: 6 hours (online, face-to-face, special announcement registration). To receive credit under a certificate program, this course must be completed following completion of the other required courses.
The Online Professor Certificate Program is a voluntary certificate program and is open only to full-time and adjunct faculty. You must complete an application to be enrolled in this program. The program focuses on facilitating skills useful to the development and teaching of online courses. Faculty will be provided with information in use of an online course development platform along with knowledge and skills in applying the results of learning and motivation research to online learning (pedagogy/andragogy). The training is online. The program requires a commitment of approximately 45 hours of training. In addition, both full-time and adjunct faculty must complete 18 hours of mentoring activities. Mentoring activities are coordinated following completion of the required courses.

- Developing Interactive Web-Based Courses: 15 hours (online)
