Time Management: Help, I Need More Time! Or Do I … ?

Presenter: Joanna Scarboro has trained on time management with several leading companies — from frontline employees to senior management.

Program Description: This workshop will help participants better understand how to manage one of their most important resources — their time. Workshop participants recognize that everyone has the same amount of time — 24 hours per day. Problems arise when they do not manage that amount of time effectively — leading to stress and burnout! Learners take a brief assessment to learn their ability to manage several key aspects of time. For example, one person may be very effective at prioritizing but struggles with planning. Participants identify the most important activities of their job and talk about how much of their time is spent on high value versus low value activities. The participants will also develop strategies to eliminate or minimize time spent on activities that do not create value in their job.

The instructor is able to create meaningful “coaching conversations” with the participants that help them troubleshoot the challenges they are facing. This workshop has received excellent reviews in a variety of environments.

Course Objectives and Measurable Outcomes:

  • Conduct a self-assessment of individual time management.
  • Learn areas of opportunity for improving time management.
  • Communicate the most important activities of their job.
  • Learn strategies to rid their schedule of non-value added activities.

They will leave with specific strategies to being a better time manager.

Practical Application Exercises:

  • Role play
  • Case studies
  • Group activities

Interactive coaching will take place in the training and the participants will learn from each other. Case studies will be utilized based on real world issues including:

  • Competing priorities at work
  • Ineffective meetings
  • Lack of clear goals
  • Co-workers that take up time with idle chit-chat
  • Managing interruptions

Student Workshop Evaluation/Assessment of Learning: An evaluation will be given to all participants regarding the training outcomes and specifically how they will apply them.
