Kerri Romaniszyn signed with Webber International University. Sara Holland, Christina Hovestadt and Stepanie Vallone will attend the University of North Florida.

New Recruits

The FCCJ Volleyball coaching staff is proud to announce the signing of new recruits for the fall of 2008–09.

The first player to sign for the 2008-09 season was Anisha Cotton from Seabreeze High School and Ormond Beach. Anisha is a dynamic Libero with tremendous speed, quickness and body control. She has a great deal of playing experience as she was also a member of the Elite Volleyball Club and the Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association. She will bring a great deal of skill to the backcourt next season for the Stars.

The second player to commit to the Stars for 2008-09 was KaLee Duggan from Spruce Creek High School and Port Orange. KaLee was a setter for Spruce Creek where she exhibited tremendous court leadership as well as excellent setting skills. She is also a past member of the Florida Elite Volleyball Club and Jacksonville Juniors. She brings tremendous court awareness and excellent ball placement skills as well as excitement and enthusiasm to the team for next year.

On Feb. 20 Olivia Drew of Orange Park, Fla. signed her scholarship papers to play volleyball at FCCJ. Olivia is a very talented setter/attacker from Fleming Island High School where she also plays basketball and currently carries a 4.6 GPA. Olivia has played several years of junior club volleyball and currently plays with the Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association 18U National Team. The FCCJ coaching staff is very excited to have Olivia join the program for the fall of 2008.

On Feb. 21 Francheska Ruiz of Ridge Community High School signed her papers to become a scholarship athlete on the FCCJ Volleyball Team. Francheska is a native of Puerto Rico but has lived in the US for the past two years. She is an extremely talented volleyball player with great speed, quickness, strength and determination. The coaches welcome Fracheska to the 2008-09 squad.

Allison Riner, a gifted setter/right side from Orange Park High School, signed her scholarship to play volleyball at FCCJ on Feb. 25. Allison is a multi-sport athlete who carries a 3.9 GPA and has five years of high school and club playing experience. She has great court sense and ball delivery as well as an ability to find her hitters anywhere on the court. The coaching staff is excited to have Allison join the volleyball team for the fall of 2008.

Joining the Stars from Slovenia, Europe next season will be Nina Kontrec. She is a left handed outside hitter and middle blocker who visited Jacksonville and FCCJ last summer. Nina is an outstanding attacker with excellent court skills. She will bring an added dimension to the team attack next season.

Also signing with the Stars for the 2008 season is Sivan Sahar, a 6’1” middle blocker from Israel.
