Coach Jami Lind recently signed Clay High star pitcher and hitter Crystal Chesser as her high school Coach Matt Lewis looks on. Chesser has been a big part of Clay’s continued success as one of the area’s dominant teams. She currently has an ERA well under 1.0 and also is one of the top power hitters and RBI producers for the Blue Devils.
FCCJ coaches Jami Lind and Jay Redfern are present for the signing of West Nassau standout Jamie Brooker. Seated by Brooker are her parents with former coaches and the high school staff present in the background. Brooker is not only an honor roll student but was also an all-state pitcher and is a noted power hitter. She chose FCCJ after considering offers from several Division I schools. She led West Nassau to state final four appearances the last three years and is expected to be a top player in the state again this year. She’ll join former West Nassau teammate Kala Crosby on the Stars.
FCCJ head coach Jami Lind signed Menendez catcher Kortney Passmore on Feb. 19. Passmore, a 4.0+ honor student is also one of the top catchers in the northeast Florida area. Her powerful arm is well respected among opponents and she is expected to be a force among area high schools this year as she will team with her sister Destiny as the battery for an up and coming Menendez softball team. Coaches and administrators from Menendez were present along with her parents and sister.
Head coach Jami Lind and pitching coach Jay Redfern were present for the first signing in the 2008-09 class. Brittany Eppley from Bishop Kenny High School (BKHS) has signed with the Stars. Eppley is a pitcher, corner player who has been a three-year starter for BKHS, and was also a member of the state finalist volleyball team. The honor roll student also plays club ball with the Jacksonville Kaos. Also present were her family, friends, teammates, and new Kenny head coach Cathy Jester.
