The softball team spent the weekend at the FCCJ Nassau Campus in Yulee in a team building experience. Activities included the ropes course (Seminole Walk), the wall and the climbing wall (Mount Yulee), as well as various physical and mental challenges designed to foster communication skills, bonding and team building. The girls built a fire and cooked hotdogs for dinner as well as making smores and roughing it a bit at the outdoor center. The girls had a lot of fun spending the weekend together. This trip is an annual event for the softball team and often has a big impact on individuals and the team as well. See team building photos.
Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Shannon Outman has signed in the early period with James Madison University.

Outman was named all conference and all state as a freshman and was also named team MVP. She had an outstanding fall season this past year and should have a great season for the Stars in 2007 and should be an outstanding player in 2008–09 for JMU.
As the FCCJ Stars swept the Jacksonville University Dolphins it was alumni day for JU but felt much like the same for FCCJ as many of the former Dolphins were also FCCJ graduates. At the game were Stacy Bell, now of Seattle, WA, with her six month old son, Max, Monica McGee, now a nurse living in Jacksonville, teachers Stephanie Farabee and Lindsey Freitag, both in Jacksonville and current FCCJ assistant Lauren Redfern. Jamie Ross, now teaching in Jacksonville was out with former teammates later but was unable to make the game.
Former FCCJ All American, Krista Judge who recently graduated from UNC–Greensboro was playing for Team Colorado, Triple Crown in the Canada Cup.
The 2006 FCCJ Softball team finished with another post–season appearance at the state tournament to conclude the season 40–23. The team fought hard at state, defeating Brevard 3–0, while losing two heartbreaking one run games, the last being an 11 inning contest to knock them from the tournament. Pat Melo made all tournament for the Stars. Once again the pitching tandem of Nicci Ward and Shannon Outman were brilliant, allowing no earned runs in the event and a total of 7 runs in 25 innings. The seven sophomores all graduated and all had GPA’s of at least 3.0. They have signed with the following schools; Pat Melo and Ashley Forsyth with D1, Jacksonville University, Nicci Ward with D1, Villanova University and Amanda MacIntyre and Sara Miller with D2, Florida Institute of Technology, and Sara Harwood has signed with NAIA, Webber International University. Ward and Forsyth were named All Conference as were freshmen, Outman, and Angii Verbeelen and Melo and Erin Johnson were second team All Conference. Nicci Ward was named the outstanding student–athlete in the conference as she graduated with a 3.95 GPA and an ERA of 0.76. The outstanding sophomore from Eagle River, Alaska was also named the Presidential Award Winner at FCCJ, the most prestigious award given to student–athletes at the college.
