The Communications Lab offers assistance in grammar, writing, research, speech, reading/study skills, literature, and EAP courses. Learning Center tutors work closely with faculty members in communications, humanities, and other disciplines to provide:

• One-on-one tutoring and explanations of English skills
• Internet-based grammar review in SkillsTutor and other computer programs
• Vocabulary Program
• Reading Program
• In-Class Review Program in basic grammar (assigned by instructor)
• Exit Paragraph Review (assigned by instructor)
• CLAST Grammar Review (you will find a series of videos and review exercises to help you practice the skills you will need to pass the CLAST.)
• Pre-testing for CLAST for students taking the test for the first time
• CLAST Remediation program to retake portions of the state test. Some assistance available for the General Education Skills Test for teacher certification
• Handouts in areas of ESL, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, essay writing, research writing, APA and MLA formats, reading/study skills, vocabulary, and literature
• Practice exit paragraphs for ENC 0021
• Practice exit paragraphs and essays for EAP Writing V and VI
• Seventeen videotapes in major elements of writing and grammar (housed in the campus library)
• Workshops in grammar, writing, study skills
• Faculty resources and forms

In addition, a 25-station computer classroom/lab enhances classroom explanations with library databases and reading, grammar, writing, study skills programs.

Student assistants provide additional, but limited, peer discussions.
