Phyl Renninger Director
Resource Development
Phyl Renninger holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Education degree from Northcentral University and a Master of Education degree from the University of North Florida in Educational Leadership and Administration. Phyl was a Corporation for National Service Fellow, one of 12 in the United States; a NAEYC Validator; and a National Service Leader Schools Program Design Group member (a presidential initiative). She was formally a teacher; K-12 school and district-based administrator; education consultant; and Mayor of Orange Park. Mrs. Renninger currently is the Director of Resource Development for Florida Community College.
Her previous experience includes Duval County Schools Supervisor of External Funding, Clay County Schools Grant Development Coordinator; Learn & Serve project manager, Baker-Clay-Nassau Collaborative Partnership Coordinator, Clay County Shared Services Network Facilitator, and Clay-Baker-Nassau School Readiness Coalition board member.
She has conducted many training sessions and workshops on grants throughout Florida and the United States. Dr. Renninger is a founder and past-president of the American Association of Grant Professionals, a national organization dedicated to grant professionals across the country; a board member of the Grant Professionals Certification Institute, a national organization establishing a credentialing process for the grant professional; and a board member of the AAGP Foundation. She currently serves on the Florida Council for Resource Development Board. She is the co-author of the books: “Collaboration in Grant Development and Management,” “References in Grant Development and Management,” and “Questions and Answers for the Grant Professional: Achieving Excellence.”
Dr. Renninger has earned the nationally recognized “Grant Professional Certification” title, having been among the 170 certified grant designers and managers who participated in the history-making first offering of the GPC exam. The credential recognizes proficiency in standards that include tenure in the profession, education, demonstrated achievement and a commitment to service for public and private philanthropy.
The Resource Development Department assists the College community in obtaining discretionary as well as entitlement grants for programs that further the institution’s goals. The department identifies appropriate funding sources; secures external funds that help ensure that the College mission is met; fosters relationships with other departments in the College; facilitates a better understanding of the grant application process; supports faculty, students and administrators through the funding process; and follows a system that efficiently and effectively guides the grant application and post-award management process.
