Articulation Development

Florida State College at Jacksonville has many formal articulation agreements with public and private baccalaureate degree-granting institutions. Generally these agreements are from program of study to a specific major at the upper division. Florida State College at Jacksonville also has some general agreements for the transfer of all associate arts (A.A.) and associate science (A.S.) and in some cases applied associate science (A.A.S.) degree students. Each agreement is unique and specifies criteria that must be met to ensure transfer at the junior status level, such as associate’s degree grade point average, prerequisite coursework, etc.

Development of articulations involves negotiations between articulation and program staff at Florida State College at Jacksonville and the college or university of interest. The process includes development of a draft agreement with academic program representatives; review by Florida State College at Jacksonville articulation committee, curriculum services and associate vice presidents; examination by legal counsel; and approval by Dr. Nancy Yurko, Articulation Officer and Dr. Steven Wallace, College President. Once an agreement is signed there are a series of internal communication pieces that are disseminated via campus mail, email, and web page. The articulation process can sometimes take several months to occur, from the initial negotiations to final signature stage, especially if a draft agreement does not match the curriculum in an existing Florida State College at Jacksonville associates degree program.
