Small Business 101

Florida Community College at Jacksonville has developed a concentrated, interactive workshop that will take you through all the critical elements of running a successful small business. The difference this program provides is evident in the design of the course. First, participants will complete an online assessment aimed at increased self-understanding of themselves as a key component to the success of their business. Second, the course focuses on participants’ business plans – not a generic example plan. Third, Small Business 101 is taught by a small business owner and learning is focused on real world strategies for success! Finally, this course typically includes guest speakers who are experts in areas such as legal issues and accounting practices. Upon finishing the program, you will have your own completed business plan.

Training topics include:

  • Building the Small Business Plan
  • Real World Business Strategies for Success
  • Introduction to Accounting/Legal Issues
  • Introduction to Marketing /Sales

Who should attend

Individuals interested in starting their own business or small business owners who are ready to create a plan that focuses their resources for a better return on investment.

When

Small Business 101 meets 4 times in the evenings for a total of 12 hours of learning!

Investment

The cost for the four sessions, including all course materials, is $295.00

Small Business 102

Small Business 102 builds upon the basics of starting a Small Business. Key concepts will be covered in detail. Each session in this program meets 3 times (in the evenings) for a total of 9 hours of learning! You can opt to take the entire Small Business 102 series or focus your time on particular sessions that meet your needs.

Training topics include:

  • Sales for Small Business Owners
  • Marketing on a Shoe String Budget
  • QuickBooks for the Small Business Owner
  • Legal Issues in the Workplace
  • Technology in the Workplace

Who Should Attend

Small Business 102 is for existing Small Business Owners who want a working knowledge of key concepts.

When

Each session will meet on selected evenings from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

Investment

The cost for each individual session is $199.00. This includes all course materials. The cost for the full series is $895.00. There is also a one time registration fee of $15 for those who have never attended Florida Community College.
