English Criteria

Subject area coordinator ______________________________________________________________

Prospective student tutors must fulfill the following requirements:

• Interview with subject area coordinator
• And one of the following:
  • Written approval of a content area/skill instructor (attached)
  • Endorsement of subject area coordinator (see below)
  • Grade of “A” or “B” in subject area being tutored OR documented experience in subject area equivalent to “A” or “B” grade
    • Grades attached
    • Experience documentation attached
• Student is taking at least 6 credit hours at Florida Community College
• Student has completed all forms required by student employment office
• Student must demonstrate acceptable tutoring skills
• Student has successfully taken both English 1101 and 1102, preferably on Kent campus
• Student must pass the Writing Test given in the Communication Lab (Attached)
• Student must exhibit excellent command of English language, including editorial knowledge and verbal skills, and must desire to help people, show compassion and work hard.
