Requirements for College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) Tutor Certification
Meet Tutor Selection Criteria
Take a minimum of 6 credit hours of college classes during the term.
Interview with discipline supervisor or content faculty instructor and have written approval of either or both. (Learning center form must be used in addition to required college forms.)
Grade of "A" or "B" in subject content being tutored
Attach copy of transcript, Or
Documented experience equivalent to class
Meet or exceed specialized discipline requirements by the Learning center coordinator in that discipline.
Demonstrate acceptable tutoring skills
Meet Florida Community College student employment requirements
Minimum of ten (10) hours of tutor training is required for CRLA Level I
Group Workshops (4 hours)
Modes include interactive discussion and films
Supervisor Workshop (2 hours)
Supervisors arrange time for small group discussion based on independent study assignments
Independent Study (4 hours)
Students work independently on selected topics for Level I, complete the reading, view the film, and complete the written work as directed. Turn in to supervisor for review and discussion.

Participate in Self and Supervisor Evaluation
Participate in a formal evaluation process to include a self-evaluation, written evaluation by supervisor, and an interview with supervisor. (learning commons forms must be used)
Tutor will be given a copy of the evaluation form and any comments from supervisor.
Document Tutoring Experience
25 documented hours of actual tutoring experience
Tutors must keep a time log and turn in the signed document daily.
Tutors are responsible for checking on their weekly progress to ensure they are on track for meeting their goals
