What is the GED assessment?

Florida Community College has an excellent and comprehensive GED program to assist you in completing your high school education by earning a GED. Nothing is more important to your success in life than this esteem-building, life-enhancing effort.

What are the GED assessments like?

The GED assessments include multiple choice, gridding, graphing and essay question formats. The topics covered on the GED assessment are: Writing Skills, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics and Literature and Art. You may take the entire GED or one or more topics at a time --- you are not required to take the entire GED all at once.

How do I sign up for the GED Assessment?

If you are not currently taking GED classes at Florida Community College, you will attend a four to five hour registration session to sign up to take the GED test. The assessment and certification centers have designed an excellent program aimed at assisting you in passing the GED. At the registration session, staff will (1) assist you in becoming familiar with the GED assessment, (2) help you identify areas to study before taking the test, (3) provide you with free preparation materials in the five GED subject areas, and (4) offer you a coupon to take the "Official GED Practice Test" --- and all of this is offered to you free of charge. The registration sessions are offered weekly by appointment at the campus of your choice (see contact information in left column). Make sure you read "What must I bring to sign up for the test?" section below before arriving for your appointment.

If you are attending Florida Community College polytechnic academy or GED classes, you will attend a one to two hour session to complete paperwork required by the State of Florida. Registration for currently enrolled students to take the GED for the first time is by appointment. Call or visit the campus of your choice to schedule an appointment. Make sure you read about "What must I bring to sign up for the test?" section below before arriving for your appointment.

If you are retaking all or part of the GED, visit the FCCJ assessment campus nearest you --- no appointment is necessary. Make sure you read about "What must I bring to the sign up for the test?" before visiting the campus.
