What are CE courses?
Continuing Education (CE) courses are concise, subject relevant courses of short duration designed to prepare someone for entry level employment in a particular field. CE can also be for the incumbent worker who is looking to enhance their skill or seek a higher level position.
Can I get college credit for CE course?
Not really. Most CE courses are designed for employment. However, some CE course parallel credit course and could be converted to credit. Many of the CE course are designed to provide Continuing Education Units (CEU). CEU are required in some fields. Check with a CE Coordinator for the courses you are interested in.
I learn best by doing. Do these courses let me do the work or am I just listening to an instructor talk?
Yes, all CE courses are related to a particular type of job. Therefore, you will have to perform hands on activities in these classes. For example, computer classes have you configure software, welding classes use all types of welding equipment, and process support technicians will test electrical circuits. These courses are designed to teach you how to do something.
What kinds of people take these courses?
CE courses are usually taken by adults wanting to make a career change, enhance their skills, or obtain employment. They are highly motivated people.
Do classes start at the beginning of the semester?
No, CE courses are offered year round and do not adhere to the College Credit schedule. However, many courses are sequential and are offered in order. You may have to wait for the first course to cycle around again.
Are there classes on the weekends?
Yes, CE courses are designed to fit into the working world. They are offered mostly in the evenings and on weekends. The courses are usually designed to take eight contact hours of instruction per week or less. That means you will be in class listening to a lecture or working on hands-on activities.
What does CE Course cost?
The costs vary based on the program and length of study. Check with a CE Coordinator for the price of the cost you are interested in.
What is the cancellation or drop policy?
Yes, full refunds are provided if you cancel a class within 1 business days prior to the class start date. There are no refunds for no-shows or after the start of a course. Non-attendance does not constitute a cancellation.
The college reserves the right to cancel any course due to emergency situations or low enrollment. Full refunds will be given for any college cancellation.

Will I be notified of the class I register for?
Yes, a confirmation letter will be mailed/emailed to you. It will name the class(es) that you are enrolled in, their dates, times, and locations and the balance due (if any). It will also include a contact number for discrepancies.
Note: If you register within 10 days of a class starting, no notice is sent.
What is the attendance policy for these courses?
These courses are of short duration and much information is provided at each class session. Your full participation is essential to your success in the class. Many courses do not provide assessments (tests) and a certificate of completion is based on attendance. Also some courses are required by law to have a specific number of contact hours. In those cases, attendance is absolutely required.
